The Passover {\cf2\super [377]} celebration was finished. The people of Israel that were in Jerusalem for Passover went out to the towns of Judah. Then they smashed the stone idols that were in those towns. Those stone idols were used to worship false gods. Those people also cut down the Asherah Poles. {\cf2\super [378]} And they destroyed the high places {\cf2\super [379]} and the altars {\cf2\super [380]} all through the areas of Judah and Benjamin. The people did the same things in the area of Ephraim and Manasseh. The people did these things until they destroyed all the things used for worshiping the false gods. Then all the Israelites went back home to their own towns.


How will Jacob’s guilt be forgiven? What will happen so his sins can be taken away? \{These things will happen\}: The rocks of the altar will be crushed to dust; the statues {\cf2\super [251]} and altars {\cf2\super [252]} for worshiping false gods will all be destroyed.


Then people would stop worshiping the gold and silver idols you made. You truly sinned when you made those idols.


But some people make statues\par from rock or wood,\par and they call them gods.\par One worker makes a statue.\par Then another worker covers it with gold\par and makes silver chains for it.\par


Some people are rich with gold and silver. Gold falls from their purses, and they weigh their silver on scales. Those people pay an artist to make a false god from wood. Then those people bow down and worship that false god.


Zion {\cf2\super [6]} spread out her hands.\par There was no person to comfort her.\par The Lord had given orders to Jacob’s {\cf2\super [7]} enemies.\par The Lord ordered Jacob’s enemies\par to surround the city.\par Jerusalem has become something dirty.\par She is something dirty among those enemies.\par


“So tell the family of Israel these things. Tell them, ‘The Lord my Master says: Come back \{to me\} and leave your filthy idols. Turn away from those terrible false gods.


That good person does not go to the mountains and share in foods offered to false gods. He does not pray to those filthy idols in Israel. He does not do the sin of adultery with his neighbor’s wife. He does not have sex with his wife during her period.


You will remember the bad things you did. You will remember that those things were not good. Then you will hate yourselves because of your sins and the terrible things you did.”


They will throw their silver \{idols\} into the streets. They will treat their gold \{statues\} like dirty rags! Why? Because those things will not be able to save them when the Lord shows his anger. Those things were nothing but a trap that caused the people to fall (sin). Those things will not give food to the people and they won’t put food in their bellies.


“Those people used their beautiful jewelry and made an idol. They were proud of that statue. They made their terrible statues. They made those filthy things. So I (God) will throw them away like a dirty rag.


“Ephraim, {\cf2\super [150]} I will have nothing more\par to do with idols. {\cf2\super [151]} \par I am the One who answers your prayers.\par I am the One who watches over you. {\cf2\super [152]} \par I am like a fir tree that is always green.\par Your fruit comes from me.”\par


The Lord All-Powerful says, “At that time, I will remove all the idols from the earth. People will not even remember their names. And I will remove the \{false\} prophets and unclean {\cf2\super [31]} spirits from the earth.


Jesus said to the devil, “Go away from me, Satan! It is written \{in the Scriptures {\cf2\super [52]} \},


“You must throw the statues of their gods into the fire and burn them. You must not want to keep the silver or the gold that is on those statues. You must not take that silver or gold for yourselves. It will be like a trap to you—{it will ruin your life}. Why? Because the Lord your God hates those idols.


But the animal was captured. Also the false prophet {\cf2\super [149]} was captured. This false prophet was the one who did the miracles {\cf2\super [150]} for the animal. The false prophet had used these miracles to trick the people who had the mark of the animal and worshiped his idol. {\cf2\super [151]} The false prophet and the animal were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.
