One time, some kings met together.\par \{They planned to attack this city\}.\par They all marched toward that city.\par


At that time, you will say:\par “I praise you Lord!\par You have been angry at me.\par But don’t be angry with me now!\par Show your love to me.”\par


You people near the city gates, cry!\par You people in the city, cry out!\par All of you people in Philistia\par will be frightened.\par Your courage will melt like hot wax.\par


Proud people will stop being proud. Those proud people will bow down to the ground with shame. At that time, only the Lord will still stand high.


At that time, people will throw away their gold and silver idols. (The people made those statues so the people could worship them.) The people will throw those statues into holes in the ground where bats and moles {\cf2\super [26]} live.


At that time, people will say,\par “Here is our God!\par He is the One we have been waiting for.\par He has come to save us.\par We have been waiting for our Lord.\par So we will rejoice and be happy\par when the Lord saves us.”\par


The Lord All-Powerful will defend {\cf2\super [291]} Jerusalem—like birds flying over their nests. The Lord will save her. The Lord will “pass over” and save Jerusalem.


Their place of safety will be destroyed. Their leaders will be defeated and leave their flag.


The Lord is very great. He lives in a very high place. The Lord fills Zion {\cf2\super [299]} with fairness and goodness.


Jerusalem, you are rich—you are rich with wisdom and knowledge of God. You are rich with salvation. You respect the Lord and that makes you rich. So you can know that you will continue.


At that time, the Lord’s plant (Judah) will be very beautiful and great. The people still living in Israel will be very proud of the things the land grows.

The Lord’s kindness continues forever!’ The people will say these things because I will again do good things to Judah. It will be like in the beginning.” The Lord said these things.


I saw a wall that went all the way around the outside of the temple. {\cf2\super [310]} In the man’s hand there was a ruler for measuring things. It was 6 cubits {\cf2\super [311]} long using the long measurement. {\cf2\super [312]} So the man measured the thickness of the wall. It was one ruler {\cf2\super [313]} thick. The man measured the height of the wall. It was one ruler tall.


The Lord says,\par ‘I will be a wall of fire around her,\par protecting her.\par And to bring glory to that city,\par I will live there.’”\par


\{The people of Babylon took my people\par and made them slaves.\}\par But I will beat them, and they will become\par the slaves of my people.\par And then you will know\par that the Lord All-Powerful sent me.”\par


Then the people of Israel sang this song:


So I tell you, you are Peter. {\cf2\super [230]} And I will build my church on this rock. The power of death {\cf2\super [231]} will not be able to defeat my church.
