The earth grew grass and plants that made grain. And it grew trees that made fruit with seeds in it. Every plant made its own kind of seeds. And God saw this was good.


Then God said, “Let there be lights in the sky. These lights will separate the days from the nights. These lights will be used for special signs and to show when special meetings [4] begin. And they will be used to show the days and years.


God looked at everything he had made. And God saw that everything was very good.


God named the light “day,” and he named the darkness “night.”


God named the air “sky.” There was evening, and then there was morning. This was the second day.


Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth. Tonight you will say you don’t know me. You will say this three times before the rooster crows twice.”
