12 The earth grew grass and plants that made grain. And it grew trees that made fruit with seeds in it. Every plant made its own kind of seeds. And God saw this was good.

Then God said, “Let the earth grow grass, plants that make grain, and fruit trees. The fruit trees will make fruit with seeds in it. And each plant will make its own kind of seed. Let these plants grow on the earth.” And it happened.


There was evening, and then there was morning. This was the third day.


God makes the grass grow to feed the animals.\par He gives us the plants\par that we work to grow.\par Those plants give us food from the earth.\par


The earth causes plants to grow.\par People plant seeds in the garden,\par and the garden makes them grow.\par In the same way, the Lord\par will make goodness grow.\par The Lord will make praise grow\par in all the nations.”\par


Without any help, the ground grows grain. First the plant grows, then the head, and then all the grain in the head.


Each tree is known by the fruit it gives. People don’t gather figs from thorny weeds. And they don’t get grapes from bushes!


God is the One who gives seed to the person who plants. And he gives bread for food. And God will give you \{spiritual\} seed and make your seed grow. He will make a great harvest from your goodness (giving).


Don’t be fooled: You cannot cheat God. A person harvests only the things he plants. {\cf2\super [75]}


\{Those people are like\} land that gets plenty of rain. A farmer plants and cares for that land so that it will give food for people. If that land grows plants that help people, then that land has the blessing of God.
