14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the sky. These lights will separate the days from the nights. These lights will be used for special signs and to show when special meetings [4] begin. And they will be used to show the days and years.

There was evening, and then there was morning. This was the third day.


These lights will be in the sky to shine light on the earth.” And it happened.


As long as the earth continues, there will always be a time for planting and a time for harvest. There will always be cold and hot, summer and winter, day and night on earth.”


I have made a rainbow in the clouds. That rainbow is proof of the agreement between me and the earth.


No person can count his stars. {\cf2\super [44]} \par God’s sun rises on all people.\par


In Gods eyes,\par even the moon is not pure and bright,\par even the stars are not pure.\par


Let that day’s morning star be dark.\par Let that night wait for the morning,\par but may that light never come.\par Don’t let it see the first rays of sunlight.\par


It still continues today\par because of your laws,\par because it obeys them like a slave.\par

The Lord my Master says these things, “The east gate of the inner courtyard will be closed on the six working days. But it will be opened on the Sabbath {\cf2\super [445]} day and on the day of the New Moon.


“On the day of the New Moon he must offer a young bull that has nothing wrong it. He will also offer six lambs and a ram that have nothing wrong with them.


Before them, earth and sky shake.\par The sun and the moon become dark.\par And the stars stop shining.\par

There was no sun! The curtain in the temple {\cf2\super [381]} was torn into two pieces.


And be careful when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon, and the stars—all the many things in the sky. Be careful that you are not tempted to worship and serve those things. The Lord your God lets the other people in the world do those things.


Then I watched while the Lamb opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun became dark like \{black\} cloth made from hair. The full moon became red like blood.


The fourth angel blew his trumpet. Then one third of the sun and one third of the moon and one third of the stars were struck. So one third of them became dark. A third of the day and night was without light.


Then the star opened the hole leading to the bottomless pit. Smoke came up from the hole like smoke from a big furnace. The sun and sky became dark because of the smoke from the hole.
