King David said to Zadok, “Take God’s Holy Box [88] back to Jerusalem. If the Lord is pleased with me, then he will bring me back and let me see Jerusalem and his temple.


God taught his laws to Moses.\par God let Israel see the powerful things\par he can do!\par


Lord, teach me your laws,\par and I will follow them.\par


Lord, help me learn your ways.\par Teach me your ways.\par


I have enemies, Lord.\par So teach me your ways.\par Teach me to do the right things.\par


I will teach sinners\par how you want them to live,\par and they will come back to you.\par


Lord, teach me your ways,\par and I will live and obey your truths.\par Help me make worshiping your name\par the most important thing in my life.\par


So now I am sending you to Pharaoh. Go! Lead my people, the people of Israel, out of Egypt!”


Then the Lord said, “I have seen the troubles my people have suffered in Egypt. And I have heard their cries when the Egyptians hurt them. I know about their pain.


{But if you destroy your people,} then the Egyptians can say, ‘The Lord planned to do bad things to his people. That is why he led them out of Egypt. He wanted to kill them in the mountains. He wanted to wipe them off the earth.’ So don’t be angry at your people. Please change your mind! Don’t destroy your people.


So the Lord felt sorry {for the people}. The Lord did not do the thing that he said he might do—he did not destroy the people.


At the same time, the Lord said to Moses, “Go down from this mountain. Your people, the people you brought out of the land of Egypt, have done a terrible sin.


“Lord, if you are pleased with me, then please go with us. I know that these are stubborn people. But forgive us for the bad things we did! Accept us as your people.”


After Moses and Aaron talked to the people, they went to Pharaoh. They said, “The Lord [41] God of Israel says, ‘Let my people go into the desert so they can have a feast to honor me.’”


Then, if you do wrong and go (live) the wrong way (to the right or to the left), you will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the right way. You should go this way!”


Lord, why are you pushing us\par away from you?\par Why are you making it hard\par for us to follow you?\par Come back to us Lord!\par We are your servants.\par Come to us and help us!\par Our families belong to you.\par


Some people don’t follow you.\par Those people don’t wear your name.\par


Let the priests, the Lord’s servants,\par cry between the porch {\cf2\super [15]} and the altar. {\cf2\super [16]} \par All of those people should say these things:\par “Lord, have mercy on your people.\par Don’t let your people be put to shame.\par Don’t let other people tell jokes\par about your people.\par Don’t let people in other nations\par \{laugh at us and\} say,\par ‘Where is their God?’”\par


And this is eternal life: that people can know you, the only true God, and that people can know Jesus Christ, the One you sent.


The Jews refuse to accept the Good News, {\cf2\super [128]} so they are God’s enemies. This has happened to help you non-Jews. But the Jews are still God’s chosen people. So God loves them very much. God loves them because of \{the promises he made to\} their fathers.


I always pray to the God of our Lord Jesus Christ—to the glorious Father. I pray that he will give you the Spirit that will show you things about God and help you understand them. Then you will really know God.


I prayed to the Lord. I said: Lord my Master, don’t destroy your people. They belong to you. You freed them and brought them out of Egypt with your great power and strength.


But they are your people, Lord. They belong to you. You brought them out of Egypt with your great power and strength.


that you will use these things to live in a way that brings honor to the Lord and pleases him in every way;\par that you will do all kinds of good things and grow in the knowledge of God;\par


But grow in the grace (kindness) and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Glory be to him now and forever! Amen.
