You should gather the food for six days. But the seventh day {of the week} is a day of rest—so there will not be any of the special food on the ground.”


“Work for six days. Then on the seventh day, rest! This will allow your slaves and other workers a time for rest and relaxation. And your bulls and donkeys will also have a time of rest.


There are six other days in the week for working. But the seventh day is a very special day of rest. That is the special day to honor the Lord. Any person who works during the Sabbath must be killed.


“You will work for six days. But on the seventh day you must rest. You must rest even during the times of planting and harvesting.
