The Lord’s voice shows his power.\par His voice shows his glory.\par


The nations will shake with fear,\par those kingdoms will fall\par when the Lord shouts,\par and the earth crumbles.\par


The anger of a king is like the roar of a lion. If you make the king angry, then you could lose your life.


The land is sick and dying. Lebanon {\cf2\super [302]} is dying and Sharon Valley {\cf2\super [303]} is dry and empty. Bashan {\cf2\super [304]} and Carmel {\cf2\super [305]} once grew beautiful plants—but now those plants have stopped growing.


The desert will be full of growing flowers and will begin to show its happiness. It will seem like the desert is dancing with joy. The desert will be beautiful like the forest of Lebanon, {\cf2\super [327]} the hill of Carmel, {\cf2\super [328]} and Sharon Valley. {\cf2\super [329]} This will happen because all people will see the Glory of the Lord. {\cf2\super [330]} People will see the beauty of our God.


The Lord will go out like a strong soldier.\par He will be like a man ready to fight a war.\par He will become very excited.\par He will cry out and shout loudly,\par and he will defeat his enemies.\par


How much longer will the land be dry?\par How long will the grass be dry and dead?\par The animals and birds in the land have died,\par And it is the fault of the wicked people.\par Yet those wicked people are saying,\par “Jeremiah will not live long enough\par to see what happens to us.”\par


“The nation of Judah cries for people\par that have died.\par The people in the cities of Judah\par grow weaker and weaker.\par Those people lie on the ground.\par People in Jerusalem cry to God for help.\par


“Jeremiah, you will give them this message:\par ‘The Lord shouts from above.\par He shouts from his holy temple!\par The Lord shouts at his pasture (people)!\par His shouts are loud like the songs of\par people walking on grapes to make wine.\par


There were prophets long before you and I became prophets, Hananiah. They preached that war, hunger, and terrible sicknesses would come to many countries and great kingdoms.


“I will bring Israel back to his own fields.\par He will eat food that grows\par on Mount Carmel\par and in the land of Bashan.\par He will eat and be full.\par He will eat on the hills\par in the lands of Ephraim and Gilead.”\par


I will roar like a lion.\par I will roar, and my children will come\par and follow me.\par My children will come from the west,\par shaking with fear.\par


I will attack them like a bear whose cubs were robbed from her. I will attack them. I will rip open their chests. I will be like a lion or other wild animal tearing and eating its prey.”


Lord, I am calling to you \{for help\}. Fire has changed our green fields into a desert. Flames have burned all the trees in the field.


The Lord calls loudly to his army.\par His camp is very large.\par That army obeys his commands.\par That army is very powerful.\par The Lord’s special day\par is a great and terrible day.\par No person can stop it.\par


The Lord God will shout from Zion, {\cf2\super [33]} \par He will shout from Jerusalem,\par and the sky and the earth will shake.\par But the Lord God will be a safe place\par for his people.\par He will be a place of safety\par for the people of Israel.\par


If they hide at the top of Mount Carmel, {\cf2\super [112]} \par I will find them there,\par and I will take them from that place.\par If they try to hide from me\par at the bottom of the sea,\par I will command the snake,\par and it will bite them.\par


The Lord will speak harshly to the sea,\par and it will become dry.\par He will make all the rivers become dry!\par The rich lands of Bashan and Carmel become dry and dead.\par The flowers in Lebanon fade away.\par


There was a very rich man living in Maon. He had 3,000 sheep and 1,000 goats. That man was in Carmel taking care of some business. He went there to cut the wool from his sheep.
