Then the soldiers with their commander and the Jewish guards arrested Jesus. They tied Jesus


Then they all grabbed Sosthenes. (Sosthenes was \{now\} the leader of the synagogue. {\cf2\super [367]})They beat Sosthenes before the court. But this did not bother Gallio.


I said, ‘But Lord, the people know that I was the one who put the believers in jail and beat them. I went through all the synagogues {\cf2\super [443]} to find and arrest the people who believe in you.


The Jews had taken this man (Paul), and they planned to kill him. But I learned that he is a Roman citizen, {\cf2\super [460]} so I went with my soldiers and saved him.


They called the apostles {\cf2\super [104]} in again. They beat the apostles and told them not to talk to people about Jesus again. Then they let the apostles go free.
