The Lord’s Spirit spoke through me. His word was on my tongue.


The Lord will use this strange way of talking and he will use other languages to speak to these people.


The Lord says, “I will make an Agreement with those people. I promise, my Spirit and my words that I put in your mouth will never leave you. They will be with your children and your children’s children. They will be with you for now and forever.”


But I (Jeremiah) am full of the Lord’s anger!\par I am tired of holding it in!\par “Pour out the Lord’s anger on the children\par that play in the street.\par Pour out the Lord’s anger on the young men\par that gather together.\par A man and his wife will both be captured.\par All the old people will be captured.\par


Then go to all of your people that are in exile. {\cf2\super [23]} Go to them and say, ‘The Lord our Master says these things.’ They won’t listen and they won’t stop sinning, \{but you must tell them these things\}.”


But the Lord’s Spirit has filled me\par with power, goodness, and strength.\par Why? So I can tell Jacob {\cf2\super [41]} about his crimes,\par and so I can tell Israel {\cf2\super [42]} about his sins!”\par


When you are arrested, don’t worry about what to say or how you should say it. At that time you will be given the things to say.


And the people that believe will be able to do these things as proof: They will use my name to force demons {\cf2\super [242]} out of people. They will speak in languages they never learned.


John will be a great man for the Lord (God). He will never drink wine or liquor. Even at the time when John is being born, he will be filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [6]}


When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the unborn baby inside Elizabeth jumped. Then Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [16]}


Then Zechariah, John’s father, was filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [20]} He told the people what would happen:


At that time the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [228]} will teach you what you must say.”


I will give you the wisdom to say things that none of your enemies can answer.


Jesus returned from the Jordan River. He was full of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [61]} The Spirit led Jesus into the desert.


But the Helper {\cf2\super [215]} will teach you everything. The Helper will cause you to remember all the things I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [216]} that the Father will send in my name.


After Jesus said that, he breathed \{on the followers\}. Jesus said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [266]}


John baptized {\cf2\super [3]} people with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”


But the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [5]} will come to you. Then you will receive power. You will be my witnesses—\{you will tell people about me\}. First, you will tell people in Jerusalem. Then you will tell people in all of Judea, in Samaria, and in every part of the world.”


These Jewish believers heard them speaking different languages and praising God. Then Peter said,


“We cannot refuse to allow these people to be baptized {\cf2\super [217]} in water. They have received the Holy Spirit the same as we did!”


After I began my speech, the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [223]} came on them the same as he (the Spirit) came on us at the beginning. {\cf2\super [224]}


But the followers \{of Jesus in Antioch\} were happy and full of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [281]}


But Saul was filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [254]} Paul (Saul’s other name) looked at Elymas (Barjesus)


God knows the thoughts of all men, and he accepted these non-Jewish people. God showed this to us by giving them the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [306]} the same as he did to us.


Then Paul put his hands on them {\cf2\super [381]} and the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [382]} came into them. They began speaking different languages and prophesying. {\cf2\super [383]}


Crete and Arabia. Some of us were born Jews. Others are converts. {\cf2\super [22]} We are from these different countries. But we can hear these men in our own languages! We can all understand the great things they are saying about God.”


They saw something that looked like flames of fire. The flames were separated and stood over each person there.


After the believers prayed, the place where they were meeting shook. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, {\cf2\super [79]} and they continued to speak God’s message {\cf2\super [80]} without fear.


Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [67]} He said to them, “Leaders of the people and you older leaders:


So, brothers and sisters, choose seven of your own men. They must be men that people say are good. They must be full of wisdom and full of the Spirit. {\cf2\super [109]} We will give them this work to do.


The whole group liked the idea. So they chose these seven men: Stephen (a man with great faith and full of the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [110]}), Philip, {\cf2\super [111]} Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus (a man from Antioch, who had become a Jew).


Stephen (one of the seven men) received a great blessing. God gave Stephen power to do miracles {\cf2\super [114]} and to show proofs from God to the people.


But Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [151]} Stephen looked up into the sky. He saw the Glory of God. He saw Jesus standing at God’s right side.


The two apostles put their hands on {\cf2\super [165]} the people. Then the people received the Holy Spirit.


So Ananias left and went to the house of Judas. He put his hands on Saul and said, “Saul, my brother, the Lord Jesus sent me. He is the One you saw on the road when you came here. Jesus sent me so that you can see again and so that you can be filled with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [191]} ”


I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in him. Then you will have more and more hope, and it will flow out of you by the power of the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [150]}


The Spirit gives to another person the power to do miracles, {\cf2\super [84]} to another person the ability to prophesy, {\cf2\super [85]} to another person the ability to know the difference between good and evil spirits. The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak in different kinds of languages, and to another person the ability to interpret those languages.


I may speak in different languages of men or even angels. But if I don’t have love, then I am only a noisy bell or a ringing cymbal.


Love never ends. There are \{gifts of\} prophecy, {\cf2\super [94]} but they will be ended. There are \{gifts of speaking in different kinds of\} languages, but those gifts will end. There is \{the gift of\} knowledge, but it will be ended.


I thank God that my gift of speaking in \{different kinds of\} languages is greater than any of yours.


I would like all of you \{to have the gift of\} speaking in \{different\} languages. But more, I want you to prophesy. The person that prophesies is greater than the person that can only speak in \{different\} languages. But the person speaking in \{different\} languages is the same as the person that prophesies if he can also interpret those languages. Then the church can be helped \{by what he says\}.


Christ’s love is greater than any person can ever know. But I pray that you will be able to know that love. Then you can be filled with the fullness of God.


Don’t be drunk with wine. That will ruin (destroy) you spiritually. But be filled with the Spirit. {\cf2\super [39]}


Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all God’s people.


It was shown to those prophets that their service was not for themselves. The prophets were serving you. They were serving you when they told about the things that you have heard. You heard those things from the men who told you the Good News. {\cf2\super [6]} They told you with the help of the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [7]} that was sent from heaven. The things you were told are things that even the angels want very much to know about.


No! No prophecy ever came from what a man wanted to say. But people were led by the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [5]} and spoke things from God.


Eli said to Hannah, “You have had too much to drink! It is time to put away the wine.”


Saul and his servant went to Gibeath Elohim. At that place, Saul met a group of prophets. God’s Spirit came on Saul with great power, and Saul prophesied with the prophets.
