\{But I say\},\par “Can a woman forget her baby? No!\par Can a woman forget the child\par that came from her body?\par No! A woman can’t forget her children.\par And I (the Lord) can’t forget you.\par


I will comfort you like a mother\par comforts her child.\par And you will be in Jerusalem when\par I comfort you!”\par


At that time, even very nice women\par cooked their own children.\par Those children became food\par for their mothers.\par This happened when my people\par were destroyed.\par


“If you still refuse to listen to me, and if you still turn against me,


{You will become so hungry that} you will eat the bodies of your sons and daughters.


“That nation will surround and attack your cities. You think that the tall, strong walls around your cities will protect you. But those walls will fall down. The enemy will surround all your cities everywhere in the land the Lord your God is giving you.


You will suffer very much. The enemy will surround your cities. They will not let you have any food. You will become very hungry. You will be so hungry that you will eat your own sons and daughters—you will eat the bodies of the children that the Lord your God gave you.


She will hide and give birth to a baby. And she will eat the baby and everything that comes out of her body with it. All those bad things will happen when your enemy comes to surround your cities and make you suffer.
