2 Chronicles 32:5 - Easy To Read Version

5-7 Hezekiah made Jerusalem stronger. This is how he did it: He built again all the parts of the wall that were broken down. He built towers on the wall. He also built another wall outside the first wall. He built again the strong places on the east side of the old part of Jerusalem. He made many weapons and shields.

David lived in the fort and called it “The City of David.” [27] David built the area called the Millo. [28] He also built more buildings inside the city.


This is the story of why Jeroboam turned against the king. Solomon was building the Millo [146] and fixing the wall of the city of David his father.


Pharaoh’s daughter moved from the City of David to the big house that Solomon built for her. Then Solomon built the Millo. [125]


Joash’s officers made plans against him. They killed Joash at the house of Millo on the road that goes down to Silla.


Nebuchadnezzar’s army finally broke through the city wall. That night King Zedekiah and all his soldiers ran away. They used the {secret} gate that went through the double walls. It was by the king’s garden. The enemy soldiers were all around the city, but Zedekiah and his men escaped on the road to the desert.


Rehoboam became a strong king. He also made his kingdom strong. Then Rehoboam and the family group of Judah {\cf2\super [166]} refused to obey the law of the Lord.


After six years, Jehoiada showed his strength. He made an agreement with the captains. Those captains were: Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zicri.


Jehoash captured Amaziah at Beth Shemesh and took him to Jerusalem. Amaziah’s father’s name was Joash. Joash’s father’s name was Jehoahaz. Jehoash tore down a 600-foot section {\cf2\super [293]} of the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.


The Ammonites paid tribute {\cf2\super [296]} to Uzziah. Uzziah’s name became famous all the way to the border of Egypt. He was famous because he was very powerful.


After that happened, Manasseh built an outer wall for the City of David. {\cf2\super [410]} This wall went to the west of Gihon Spring in \{Kidron\} Valley, to the entrance of the Fish Gate, and around the hill of Ophel. {\cf2\super [411]} He made the wall very tall. Then he put officers in all the fortresses {\cf2\super [412]} in Judah.


A person that can’t control himself is like a city without walls to protect it.


Zedekiah king of Judah saw those officials from Babylon, so he and the soldiers with him ran away. They left Jerusalem at night. They went out through the king’s garden and out through the gate that was between the two walls. Then they went toward the desert.


They don’t trip each other.\par Each soldier walks in his \{own\} path.\par If one of the soldiers is hit and falls down,\par the others keep right on marching.\par


Then all of the leaders in Shechem and the house of Millo [79] came together. All those people gathered beside the big tree of the pillar in Shechem and made Abimelech their king.
