1 Kings 22:6 - Easy To Read Version

6 So Ahab called a meeting of the prophets. There were about 400 prophets at that time. Ahab asked the prophets, “Should I go and fight against the army of Aram at Ramoth? Or should I wait for another time?”

Rehoboam said, “The people said, ‘Give us easier work than your father gave us.’ How do you think I should answer these people? What should I tell them?”


Now, tell all Israel to meet me at Mount Carmel. Also bring to that place the 450 prophets of Baal. [197] And bring the 400 prophets of the false goddess Asherah. [198] Queen Jezebel supports those prophets.” [199]


So Ahab called all the Israelites and those prophets to Mount Carmel.


At that time, the two kings were wearing their royal robes. They were sitting on the thrones. This was at the judging place near the gate of Samaria. All the prophets were standing before them. The prophets were prophesying. [228]


Then Micaiah stood before King Ahab. The king asked him, “Micaiah, should King Jehoshaphat and I join armies? And should we go now to fight against the army of Aram at Ramoth?”


But first we should ask the Lord for advice.”


Now call together all the priests and prophets of Baal. And call together all the people that worship Baal. Don’t let any person miss this meeting. I have a great sacrifice to give to Baal. I will kill any person that doesn’t come to this meeting!”


Elisha said to the king of Israel (Jehoram), “What do you want from me? Go to the prophets of your father and mother!”


Then Micaiah came to King Ahab. The king said to him, “Micaiah, should we go to the town of Ramoth Gilead to fight or not?” Micaiah answered, “Go and attack. God will let you defeat those people.”


Now, do you think I came to this country to destroy it without the Lord’s help! No! The Lord said to me, “Go up against this country and destroy it!”


The prophets tell lies.\par The priests will not do\par what they were chosen to do. {\cf2\super [36]} \par And my people love it this way!\par But what will you people do\par when your punishment comes?”\par


“Be careful of false prophets. {\cf2\super [84]} They come to you and look \{gentle\} like sheep. But they are really dangerous \{like\} wolves.


The time will come when people will not listen to the true teaching. But people will find more and more teachers that please them. People will find teachers that say the things those people want to hear.


But the animal was captured. Also the false prophet {\cf2\super [149]} was captured. This false prophet was the one who did the miracles {\cf2\super [150]} for the animal. The false prophet had used these miracles to trick the people who had the mark of the animal and worshiped his idol. {\cf2\super [151]} The false prophet and the animal were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.
