And when the Madianite merchants passed by, they drew him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ismaelites, for twenty pieces of silver: and they led him into Egypt.


And they arose out of Madian, and came into Pharan. And they took men with them from Pharan, and went into Egypt to Pharao the king of Egypt: who gave him a house, and appointed him victuals, and assigned him land.


And the Lord, the God of hosts, in that day shall call to weeping and to mourning: to baldness and to girding with sackcloth.


Therefore the showers were withholden, and there was no lateward rain: thou hadst a harlot's forehead, thou wouldst not blush.


And when Judi had read three or four pages, he cut it with the penknife: and he cast it into the fire, that was upon the hearth, till all the volume was consumed with the fire that was on the hearth.


They are confounded, because they have committed abomination: yea rather they are not confounded with confusion and they have not known how to blush. Therefore shall they fall among them that fall; in the time of their visitation they shall fall, saith the Lord.

He said to the elders of Madian: So will this people destroy all that dwell in our borders, as the ox is wont to eat the grass to the very roots. Now he was at that time king in Moab.


Revenge first the children of Israel on the Madianites: and so thou shalt be gathered to thy people.


Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own confusion; wandering stars, to whom the storm of darkness is reserved for ever.


And when the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the children of Israel, they lifted up their voice, and wept.
