Who cometh forth like a flower, and is destroyed, and fleeth as a shadow, and never continueth in the same state.


For according to the height of the heaven above the earth: he hath strengthened his mercy towards them that fear him.


and that wine may cheer the heart of man. That he may make the face cheerful with oil: and that bread may strengthen man's heart.


Rebuke me not, O Lord, in thy indignation; nor chastise me in thy wrath.


Thou hast multiplied thy wonderful works, O Lord my God: and in thy thoughts there is no one like to thee. I have declared and I have spoken they are multiplied above number.


The voice of one, saying: Cry. And I said: What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory thereof as the flower of the field.


The grass is withered, and the dower is fallen, because the spirit of the Lord hath blown upon it. Indeed the people is grass.


For thus saith the High and the Eminent that inhabiteth eternity. And his name is Holy, who dwelleth in the high and holy place and with a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite.


My hand made all these things, and all these things were made, saith the Lord. But to whom shall I have respect, but to him that is poor and little and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my words?


Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?


And they that use this world, as if they used it not: for the fashion of this world passeth away.


Furthermore I count all things to be but loss for the excellent knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord; for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but as dung, that I may gain Christ:


Charge the rich of this world not to be highminded, nor to trust in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, (who giveth us abundantly all things to enjoy,)


Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow.


For all flesh is as grass; and all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass is withered, and the flower thereof is fallen away.


And the world passeth away, and the concupiscence thereof: but he that doth the will of God, abideth for ever.
