‘I have kept silent from ages past; I have been quiet and restrained myself. But now, I will groan like a woman in labour, gasping breathlessly.


For this is what the Lord says: ‘If those who do not deserve to drink the cup must drink it, can you possibly remain unpunished? You will not remain unpunished, for you must drink it too.


So rejoice and be glad, Daughter Edom, you resident of the land of Uz! Yet the cup  will pass to you as well; you will get drunk and expose yourself.


Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who dwells in Zion, my holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy, and foreigners will never overrun it again.


All of them come to do violence; their faces  are set in determination. They gather  prisoners like sand.


For the time has come for judgement  to begin with God’s household,  and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?
