At noon Elijah mocked them. He said, ‘Shout loudly, for he’s a god! Maybe he’s thinking it over; maybe he has wandered away;  or maybe he’s on the road. Perhaps he’s sleeping and will wake up! ’


Rejoice, young person, while you are young, and let your heart be glad in the days of your youth. And walk in the ways of your heart and in the desire of your eyes; but know that for all of these things God will bring you to judgement.


‘Go into the city to a certain man,’ he said, ‘and tell him, “The Teacher says: My time is near; I am celebrating the Passover at your place   with my disciples.” ’


‘You know   that the Passover takes place after two days, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.’


After leaving them, he went away again and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.


Get up; let’s go. See, my betrayer is near.’


He went a little further, fell to the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour  might pass from him.


Every day while I was with you in the temple,   you never laid a hand on me. But this is your hour   #– #and the dominion of darkness.’


Jesus replied to them, ‘The hour has come for the Son of Man   to be glorified.


‘Now my soul is troubled. What should I say #– #Father, save me   from this hour? But that is why I came to this hour.


Before the Passover Festival, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world to the Father.  Having loved his own who were in the world,  he loved them to the end.


Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said, ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son   may glorify you,
