Nation was crushed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them with every possible distress.


I will provoke Egyptians against Egyptians; each will fight against his brother and each against his friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.


you will be punished by the  Lord of Armies with thunder, earthquake, and loud noise, storm, tempest, and a flame of consuming fire.


‘For this is what the Lord God says: How much worse will it be when I send my four  devastating judgements against Jerusalem #– #sword, famine, dangerous animals, and plague #– #in order to wipe out both people and animals from it!


A ruin, a ruin, I will make it a ruin! Yet this will not happen until he comes; I have given the judgement to him.


On that day a great panic from the Lord will be among them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of one will rise against the other.


There will be violent earthquakes,   and famines and plagues   in various places, and there will be terrifying sights and great signs from heaven.


One of them, named Agabus, stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine throughout the Roman world.  This took place during the reign of Claudius.


I will display wonders in the heaven  above and signs on the earth  below: blood and fire and a cloud of smoke.


This expression, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of what can be shaken   #– #that is, created things #– #so that what is not shaken might remain.


Then I saw him open  the sixth seal. A violent earthquake occurred;  the sun turned black like sackcloth  made of hair; the entire moon  became like blood;


When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, ‘Come! ’ And I looked, and there was a black horse.  Its rider held a set of scales in his hand.


Then I heard something like a voice among the four living creatures say, ‘A litre of wheat for a denarius,  and three litres of barley for a denarius,  but do not harm the oil and the wine.’


And I looked, and there was a pale-green  horse. Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following after him.  They were  given authority  over a fourth of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.
