Isn’t this what we told you in Egypt: Leave us alone so that we may serve the Egyptians? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.’


Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city – to bring the rebellion to an end, to put a stop to sin, to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.


Then he went and settled in a town called Nazareth to fulfil what was spoken through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.


Suddenly they shouted, ‘What do you have to do with us,  Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time? ’


Just then a man with an unclean  spirit  was in their synagogue.  He cried out,


Jesus rebuked  him saying, ‘Be silent,   and come out of him! ’


When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth,  he began to cry out, ‘Jesus, Son of David,  have mercy  on me! ’


When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, ‘You also were with Jesus, the man from Nazareth.’


‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he told them. ‘You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth,  who was crucified. He has risen!  He is not here. See the place where they put him.


And he cried out with a loud voice, ‘What do you have to do with me, Jesus, Son  of the Most High God?  I beg you before God, don’t torment  me! ’


The angel replied to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you,  and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.


‘What things? ’ he asked them. So they said to him, ‘The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth,  who was a prophet  powerful in action and speech  before God and all the people,


‘Leave us alone! What do you have to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are #– #the Holy One of God! ’


When he saw Jesus, he cried out,  fell down before him, and said in a loud voice, ‘What do you have to do with me,  Jesus, Son of the Most High God?  I beg you, don’t torment me! ’


Then all the people of the Gerasene region  asked him to leave them,  because they were gripped by great fear. So, getting into the boat, he returned.


We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.’  ,


because you will not abandon me in Hades or allow your holy one to see decay.


For we have found this man to be a plague,  an agitator  among all the Jews throughout the Roman world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.


You denied the Holy and Righteous One  and asked to have a murderer released to you.


‘For, in fact, in this city both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed,


You believe that God is one. Good! Even the demons believe #– #and they shudder.


But you have an anointing  from the Holy One,  and all of you know the truth.


‘Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia: Thus says the Holy One, the true one,   the one who has the key of David, who opens and no one will close, and who closes and no one opens:
