Joshua 10:12 - Christian Standard Bible Anglicised

12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the Lord in the presence of Israel: ‘Sun,  stand still over Gibeon, and moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.’

Abner son of Ner and soldiers of Ish-bosheth son of Saul marched out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.


Then Hezekiah answered, ‘It’s easy for the shadow to lengthen ten steps. No, let the shadow go back ten steps.’


So the prophet Isaiah called out to the Lord, and he brought the shadow  back the ten steps it had descended on the stairway of Ahaz.  ,


Isaiah said, ‘This is the sign  to you from the Lord that he will do what he has promised: Should the shadow go ahead ten steps or go back ten steps? ’


Beriah and Shema, who were the family heads of Aijalon’s residents and who drove out the residents of Gath,


Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, which are fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin.


He commands the sun not to shine and seals off the stars.

And in that day – this is the declaration of the Lord  God  – I will make the sun go down at noon; I will darken the land in the daytime.


But the Lord is in his holy temple; let the whole earth be silent in his presence.


Sun and moon stand still in their lofty residence, at the flash of your flying arrows, at the brightness of your shining spear.


Let all humanity be silent  before the Lord, for from his holy dwelling he has roused himself.’


and has gone to serve other gods  by bowing in worship to the sun, moon, or all the stars in the sky   #– #which I have forbidden   #– #


When you look to the heavens and see the sun, moon, and stars #– #all the stars in the sky #– #do not be led astray to bow in worship to them and serve them.  The Lord your God has provided them for all people everywhere under heaven.


And the sun stood still and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance on its enemies. Isn’t this written in the Book of Jashar? So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed its setting almost a full day.

and when he died, he was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.


The stars fought from the heavens; the stars fought with Sisera from their paths.


Samuel called on the Lord, and on that day the Lord sent thunder and rain. As a result, all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.


The Israelites struck down the Philistines that day from Michmash  all the way to Aijalon.  Since the Israelites were completely exhausted,
