And Hezekiah said: "It is an easy for the shadow to increase for ten lines. And so I do not wish that this be done. Instead, let it turn back for ten degrees."


And so the prophet Isaiah called upon the Lord. And he led back the shadow, along the lines by which it had already descended on the sundial of Ahaz, in reverse for ten degrees.


And Isaiah said to him: "This will be the sign from the Lord, that the Lord will do the word that he has spoken: Do you wish that the shadow may ascend ten lines, or that it may turn back for the same number of degrees?"


Now Beriah and Shema were leaders of their families living in Aijalon; these put to flight the inhabitants of Gath.


as well as Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which were very fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin.


He commands the sun and it does not rise, and he closes the stars as if under a seal.


Praise him, sun and moon. Praise him, all stars and light.


May he be mindful of all your sacrifices, and may your burnt-offerings be fat.


For the Lord will stand, just as at the mountain of divisions. He will be angry, just as in the valley which is in Gibeon, so that he may accomplish his work, his strange work, so that he may complete his work, his work which is foreign even to him.

But the Lord is in his holy temple. May all the earth be silent before his face.


The sun and the moon have stood firm in their dwelling place; with the light of your arrows, they shall go forth in the splendor of your flashing spear.


Let all flesh be silent before the face of the Lord: for he has arisen from his holy dwelling place.
