Then Moses asked God, ‘If I go to the Israelites and say to them, “The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,” and they ask me, “What is his name? ” what should I tell them? ’


He said, ‘I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim the name “the Lord” before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.’


I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but I was not known to them by my name ‘the Lord.’  ,


Zion, herald of good news, go up on a high mountain. Jerusalem, herald of good news, raise your voice loudly. Raise it, do not be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, ‘Here is your God! ’


The past events have indeed happened. Now I declare new events; I announce them to you before they occur.’


Kings will be your guardians and their queens  your nursing mothers. They will bow down to you with their faces to the ground and lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the  Lord; those who put their hope in me will not be put to shame.


You will nurse on the milk of nations, and nurse at the breast of kings; you will know that I, the Lord, am your Saviour and Redeemer,  the Mighty One of Jacob.


No longer will one teach his neighbour or his brother, saying, “Know the Lord,”  for they will all know me, from the least to the greatest of them’   #– #this is the Lord’s declaration. ‘For I will forgive their iniquity  and never again remember their sin.


You will know that I am the Lord,  house of Israel, when I have dealt with you for the sake of my name  rather than according to your evil ways and corrupt acts. This is the declaration of the Lord God.” ’


God is not a man, that he might lie, or a son of man, that he might change his mind. Does he speak and not act, or promise and not fulfil?
