‘So now in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God, observe and follow all the commands of the Lord your God so that you may possess this good land and leave it as an inheritance to your descendants for ever.


So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, ‘Asa and all Judah and Benjamin, hear me. The Lord is with you  when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you,  but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.


and my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.


I did this because I was ashamed to ask the king for infantry and cavalry to protect us from enemies during the journey, since we had told him, ‘The hand of our God is gracious to all who seek him, but his fierce anger is against all who abandon him.’


She cries out above  the commotion; she speaks at the entrance of the city gates:


The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the  Lord, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.


Every word of God is pure;  , he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.


Listen, for I speak of noble things, and what my lips say is right.


When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will refuse to look at you; even if you offer countless prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.


I alone declared, saved, and proclaimed – and not some foreign god  among you. So you are my witnesses’ – this is the  Lord’s declaration – ‘and  I am God.


Do not be startled or afraid. Have I not told you and declared it long ago? You are my witnesses! Is there any God but me? There is no other Rock;  I do not know any.


By myself I have sworn; truth has gone from my mouth, a word that will not be revoked: Every knee will bow  to me, every tongue will swear allegiance.


All the descendants of Israel will be justified and boast in the  Lord.


Approach me and listen to this. From the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time anything existed, I was there.’ And now the Lord God has sent me and his Spirit.


Who is this coming from Edom in crimson-stained garments from Bozrah – this one who is splendid in his apparel, striding in his formidable  might? It is I, proclaiming vindication, powerful to save.


I will produce descendants from Jacob, and heirs to my mountains from Judah; my chosen  ones will possess it, and my servants will dwell there.


When they say to you, ‘Enquire of the mediums and the spiritists who chirp and mutter,’  shouldn’t a people enquire of their God?  Should they enquire of the dead on behalf of the living?


Evil generation, pay attention to the word of the  Lord! Have I been a wilderness to Israel or a land of dense darkness? Why do my people claim, ‘We will go where we want; we will no longer come to you’?


For the Lord says to the house of Israel: Seek me and live!


‘I have spoken openly to the world,’ Jesus answered him. ‘I have always taught in the synagogue   and in the temple,   where all the Jews gather, and I haven’t spoken anything in secret.


Yet, look, he’s speaking publicly and they’re saying nothing to him. Can it be true that the authorities  know he is the Messiah?


As he was teaching in the temple,  Jesus cried out, ‘You know me and you know where I am from. Yet I have not come on my own, but the one who sent me   is true. You don’t know him;


The hidden things belong to the Lord our God, but the revealed things belong to us and our children for ever, so that we may follow all the words of this law.


The Rock   #– #his work is perfect; all his ways are just. A faithful God,  without bias, he is righteous and true.


You ask and don’t receive because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
