Then he looked, and there at his head was a loaf of bread baked over hot stones, and a jug of water.  So he ate and drank and lay down again.


But whoever listens to me will live securely and be undisturbed by the dread of danger.’


The one who lives with integrity lives securely, but whoever perverts his ways will be found out.


The name of the  Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are protected.  ,


For you have been a stronghold for the poor person, a stronghold for the needy  in his distress, a refuge from storms and a shade from heat. When the breath of the violent is like a storm against a wall,


The Lord will give you meagre bread and water during oppression,  but your Teacher  will not hide any longer. Your eyes will see your Teacher,


Then my people will dwell in a peaceful place, in safe and secure dwellings.


They will not hunger or thirst, the scorching heat or sun will not strike them; for their compassionate one will guide them, and lead them to springs.

So King Zedekiah gave orders, and Jeremiah was placed in the guard’s courtyard.  He was given a loaf of bread each day from the bakers’ street until all the bread was gone from the city. So Jeremiah remained in the guard’s courtyard.


The Lord will roar from Zion and make his voice heard from Jerusalem; heaven and earth will shake. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the Israelites.


The Lord my Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights! For the choir director: on  stringed instruments.


Give us today our daily bread.


How happy you are, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the  Lord? He is the shield that protects you, the sword you boast in. Your enemies will cringe before you, and you will tread on their backs.  ,
