the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth,  and he was deeply grieved.


Every creature perished #– #those that crawl on the earth, birds, livestock, wildlife, and those that swarm on the earth, as well as all mankind.


Seven days from now I will make it rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and every living thing I have made I will wipe off the face of the earth.’


When the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma,  he said to himself, ‘I will never again curse the ground  because of human beings, even though the inclination of the human heart is evil from youth onward.  And I will never again strike down every living thing as I have done.


The fear of the  Lord prolongs life,  , but the years of the wicked are cut short.


The Lord has prepared everything for his purpose – even the wicked for the day of disaster.


When its branches dry out, they will be broken off. Women will come and make fires with them, for they are not a people with understanding. Therefore their Maker  will not have compassion on them, and their Creator will not be gracious to them.


For this reason the land mourns, and everyone who lives in it languishes, along with the wild animals  and the birds of the sky; even the fish of the sea disappear.


The Lord relented concerning this.  ‘It will not happen,’ he said.

Their silver and their gold will be unable to rescue them on the day of the  Lord’s wrath. The whole earth will be consumed by the fire of his jealousy, for he will make a complete, yes, a horrifying end of all the inhabitants of the earth.


I will completely sweep away everything from the face of the earth   – this is the  Lord’s declaration.


I will sweep away people and animals; I will sweep away the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea, and the ruins  along with the wicked. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth. This is the  Lord’s declaration.


Just as the Lord was glad to cause you to prosper and to multiply you, so he will also be glad to cause you to perish and to destroy you. You will be ripped out of the land you are entering to possess.


The Lord will not be willing to forgive him. Instead, his anger and jealousy will burn against that person, and every curse written in this scroll will descend on him. The Lord will blot out his name under heaven,


‘I regret that I made Saul king,  for he has turned away from following me and has not carried out my instructions.’  So Samuel became angry and cried out to the Lord all night.
