But Judah approached him and said, ‘My lord, please let your servant speak personally to my lord. Do not be angry with your servant, for you are like Pharaoh.


They said to Moses, ‘Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?


The people grumbled to Moses, ‘What are we going to drink? ’


But they didn’t listen to Moses; some people left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. Therefore Moses was angry with them.


Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘How long will you  refuse to keep my commands  and instructions?


When the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered round Aaron and said to him, ‘Come, make gods  for us who will go before us because this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt #– #we don’t know what has happened to him! ’


Then Moses asked Aaron, ‘What did these people do to you that you have led them into such a grave sin? ’


For they can’t sleep unless they have done what is evil; they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble.


For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you are rebelling against the Lord now, while I am still alive, how much more will you rebel after I am dead!


You have been rebelling against the Lord ever since I have  known you.


‘Remember  and do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God in the wilderness. You have been rebelling against the Lord from the day you left the land of Egypt until you reached this place.


Saul answered, ‘The troops brought them from the Amalekites and spared the best sheep, goats, and cattle in order to offer a sacrifice to the Lord your God,  but the rest we destroyed.’


The troops took sheep, goats, and cattle from the plunder #– #the best of what was set apart for destruction #– #to sacrifice to the Lord your God at Gilgal.’


Saul answered Samuel, ‘I have sinned.  I have transgressed the Lord’s command  and your words. Because I was afraid of the people, I obeyed them.
