23 All its soil will be a burning waste of sulphur and salt, unsown, producing nothing, with no plant growing on it, just like the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord demolished in his fierce anger.

waged war against King Bera of Sodom, King Birsha of Gomorrah, King Shinab of Admah, and King Shemeber of Zeboiim,  as well as the king of Bela (that is, Zoar  ).


Though this temple is now exalted,  everyone who passes by will be appalled and will scoff.  They will say, ‘Why did the Lord do this to this land and this temple?’


Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord their God who brought their ancestors out of the land of Egypt. They held on to other gods and bowed in worship to them and served them. Because of this, the Lord brought all this ruin on them.’


‘Go and enquire of the Lord for me, for the people, and for all Judah about the words in this book that has been found. For great is the Lord’s wrath that is kindled against us because our ancestors have not obeyed the words of this book in order to do everything written about us.’


Nothing he owned remains in his tent. Burning sulphur  is scattered over his home.


Your land is desolate, your cities burned down; foreigners devour your fields right in front of you – a desolation, like a place demolished by foreigners.


And Babylon, the jewel of the kingdoms, the glory of the pride of the Chaldeans, will be like Sodom and Gomorrah when God overthrew them.


Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch, her soil into sulphur; her land will become burning pitch.


Our holy and beautiful   temple, where our ancestors praised you, has been burned down, and all that was dear to us lies in ruins.


He will be like a juniper in the Arabah; he cannot see when good comes but dwells in the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land where no one lives.


Let that man be like the cities the Lord demolished without compassion. Let him hear an outcry in the morning and a war cry at noontime


As when Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown along with their neighbours,’  says the Lord, ‘no one will live there; no human being will stay in it even temporarily.


I will make Jerusalem a heap of rubble, a jackals’ den. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, an uninhabited place.


Yet its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be left for salt.


I also will devastate the land, so that your enemies who come to live there will be appalled by it.


I overthrew some of you as I  overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a burning stick snatched from a fire, yet you did not return to me   – This is the  Lord’s declaration.


Therefore, as I live – this is the declaration of the  Lord of Armies, the God of Israel – Moab will be like Sodom and the Ammonites like Gomorrah: a place overgrown with weeds, a salt pit, and a perpetual wasteland. The remnant of my people will plunder them; the remainder of my nation will dispossess them.


But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulphur rained from heaven and destroyed   them all.


And just as Isaiah predicted: If the Lord of Armies had not left us offspring, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have been made like Gomorrah.   ,


Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah  and the surrounding towns committed sexual immorality and perversions,  and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.


But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with it the false prophet, who had performed the signs in its presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshipped its image with these signs.  Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulphur.


So Abimelech fought against the city that entire day, captured it, and killed the people who were in it. Then he tore down the city and sowed it with salt.
