22 ‘Future generations of your children who follow you and the foreigner who comes from a distant country will see the plagues of that land and the diseases the Lord has inflicted on it.

Then out of the sky the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah burning sulphur from the Lord.


I will make this city desolate, an object of scorn. Everyone who passes by it will be appalled and scoff because of all its wounds.


Let that man be like the cities the Lord demolished without compassion. Let him hear an outcry in the morning and a war cry at noontime


‘Edom will become a desolation. Everyone who passes by her will be appalled and scoff because of all her wounds.


As when Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown along with their neighbours,’  says the Lord, ‘no one will live there; no human being will stay in it even temporarily.


Because of the  Lord’s wrath, she will not be inhabited; she will become a desolation, every bit of her. Everyone who passes through Babylon will be appalled and scoff because of all her wounds.


How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I surrender you, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? I have had a change of heart; my compassion is stirred!


Therefore, as I live – this is the declaration of the  Lord of Armies, the God of Israel – Moab will be like Sodom and the Ammonites like Gomorrah: a place overgrown with weeds, a salt pit, and a perpetual wasteland. The remnant of my people will plunder them; the remainder of my nation will dispossess them.


But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and about to be cursed, and at the end will be burned.
