Daniel 6:24 - Christian Standard Bible Anglicised

24 The king then gave the command, and those men who had maliciously accused Daniel  , were brought and thrown into the lions’ den #– #they, their children, and their wives.  They had not reached the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

However, he did not put the children of the killers to death, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses where the Lord commanded, ‘Fathers are not to be put to death because of children, and children are not to be put to death because of fathers; instead, each one will be put to death for his own sin.’


They hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.  Then the king’s anger subsided.


They killed these ten sons  of Haman son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews.  However, they did not seize  any plunder.


But when the matter was brought before the king,  he commanded by letter that the evil plan Haman had devised against the Jews return on his own head  and that he should be hanged with his sons on the gallows.


The righteous one is rescued from trouble; in his place, the wicked one goes in.


A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies perishes.


I thought until the morning: He will break all my bones like a lion. By nightfall you make an end of me.


‘Therefore, this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed me by proclaiming freedom, each for his fellow Hebrew and for his neighbour.  I hereby proclaim freedom for you   #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #to the sword, to plague, and to famine! I will make you a horror to all the earth’s kingdoms.


Since the king’s command was so urgent  , and the furnace extremely hot, the raging flames  killed those men who carried up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.


‘Fathers are not to be put to death for their children, and children are not to be put to death for their fathers; each person will be put to death for his own sin.
