But Elisha said, ‘As the Lord lives,  in whose presence I stand, I will not accept it.’  Naaman urged him to accept it, but he refused.


One of his servants said, ‘No one, my lord the king. Elisha, the prophet in Israel, tells the king of Israel even the words you speak in your bedroom.’


Truthful lips endure for ever, but a lying tongue, only a moment.


Lying lips are detestable to the  Lord, but faithful people are his delight.


But as for you, do you pursue great things for yourself? Stop pursuing! For I am about to bring disaster on all humanity’ #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #‘but I will grant you your life like the spoils of war  wherever you go.’ ” ’


‘Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your panelled houses,  while this house  lies in ruins? ’


Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy,   drive out demons.   Freely you received, freely give.


I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.


In every way I’ve shown you that it is necessary to help the weak by labouring like this and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, because he said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”  ’


Then Peter said to her, ‘Why did you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.’


Even though I am absent in the body, I am present in spirit.  As one who is present with you in this way, I have already pronounced judgement on the one who has been doing such a thing.


For I may be absent in body, but I am with you in spirit,  rejoicing to see how well ordered you are and the strength of your faith in Christ.
