The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, but a cunning person takes lives.


A good man leaves an inheritance to his   grandchildren, but the sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.


A house and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the  Lord.


‘Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy, and say to them, “This is what the Lord God says to the shepherds: Woe to the shepherds of Israel, who have been feeding themselves!  Shouldn’t the shepherds feed their flock?


I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.


No one is to seek his own good, but the good of the other person.


just as I also try to please everyone in everything, not seeking my own benefit, but the benefit of many,  so that they may be saved.


If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you gather together you will not come under judgement. I will give instructions about the other matters whenever I come.

But I will come to you soon,  if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk, but the power of those who are arrogant.


If others have this right to receive benefits from you, don’t we even more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right; instead, we endure everything  so that we will not hinder the gospel of Christ.


What then is my reward? To preach the gospel and offer it free of charge and not make full use of my rights in the gospel.


Although I am free from all and not anyone’s slave, I have made myself a slave to everyone, in order to win  more people.


Because of this confidence, I planned to come to you first,  so that you could have a second benefit,


When I was present with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, since the brothers who came from Macedonia  supplied my needs.  I have kept myself, and will keep myself, from burdening you in any way.


So in what way are you worse off than the other churches, except that I personally did not burden you? Forgive me for this wrong!


My children,  I am again suffering labour pains  for you until Christ is formed in you.


So then, my dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown,  in this manner stand firm  in the Lord, dear friends.


Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the profit  , that is increasing to your account.


As you know, like a father with his own children,


We cared so much for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.
