² H5176And NahashH5984the AmmoniteH559answered[H8799] H2063them, On thisH3772condition will I make[H8799] H5365a covenant with you, that I may thrust out[H8800] H3225all your rightH5869eyesH7760, and lay[H8804] H2781it for a reproachH3478upon all Israel.

³ H2205And the eldersH3003of JabeshH559said[H8799] H7651unto him, Give us sevenH3117daysH7503' respite[H8685] H7971, that we may send[H8799] H4397messengersH1366unto all the coastsH3478of IsraelH3467: and then, if there be no man to save[H8688] H3318us, we will come out[H8804]  to thee.

⁴ H935Then came[H8799] H4397the messengersH1390to GibeahH7586of SaulH1696, and told[H8762] H1697the tidingsH241in the earsH5971of the peopleH5971: and all the peopleH5375lifted up[H8799] H6963their voicesH1058, and wept[H8799] .

⁵ H7586And, behold, SaulH935came[H8804] H310afterH1241the herdH7704out of the fieldH7586; and SaulH559said[H8799] H5971, What aileth the peopleH1058that they weep[H8799] H5608? And they told[H8762] H1697him the tidingsH582of the menH3003of Jabesh.

And the fearH3068of the LORDH5307fell[H8799] H5971on the peopleH3318, and they came out[H8799] H259with oneH376consent.

⁸ H6485And when he numbered[H8799] H966them in BezekH1121, the childrenH3478of IsraelH7969were threeH3967hundredH505thousandH376, and the menH3063of JudahH7970thirtyH505thousand.

⁹ H559And they said[H8799] H4397unto the messengersH935that came[H8802] H559, Thus shall ye say[H8799] H376unto the menH3003of JabeshgileadH1568 H4279, To morrowH8121, by that time the sunH2527be hotH8668, ye shall have helpH4397. And the messengersH935came[H8799] H5046and shewed[H8686] H582it to the menH3003of JabeshH8055; and they were glad[H8799] .

¹⁰ H582Therefore the menH3003of JabeshH559said[H8799] H4279, To morrowH3318we will come out[H8799] H6213unto you, and ye shall do[H8804] H5869with us all that seemethH2896good unto you.

¹¹ H4283And it was so on the morrowH7586, that SaulH7760put[H8799] H5971the peopleH7969in threeH7218companiesH935; and they came[H8799] H8432into the midstH4264of the hostH1242in the morningH821watchH5221, and slew[H8686] H5983the AmmonitesH2527until the heatH3117of the dayH7604: and it came to pass, that they which remained[H8737] H6327were scattered[H8799] H8147, so that twoH7604of them were not left[H8738] H3162together.

¹² H5971And the peopleH559said[H8799] H8050unto SamuelH559, Who is he that said[H8802] H7586, Shall SaulH4427reign[H8799] H5414over us? bring[H8798] H582the menH4191, that we may put them to death[H8686] .

¹³ H7586And SaulH559said[H8799] H376, There shall not a manH4191be put to death[H8714] H3117this dayH3117: for to dayH3068the LORDH6213hath wrought[H8804] H8668salvationH3478in Israel.

¹⁴ H559Then said[H8799] H8050SamuelH5971to the peopleH3212, Come[H8798] H3212, and let us go[H8799] H1537to GilgalH2318, and renew[H8762] H4410the kingdom there.

¹⁵ H5971And all the peopleH3212went[H8799] H1537to GilgalH7586; and there they made SaulH4427king[H8686] H6440beforeH3068the LORDH1537in GilgalH2076; and there they sacrificed[H8799] H2077sacrificesH8002of peace offeringsH6440beforeH3068the LORDH7586; and there SaulH582and all the menH3478of IsraelH8055rejoiced[H8799] H3966greatly.
