Psalm 50 - Easy To Read Version

¹ The Lord, the God of gods has spoken.\par He calls to all the people on earth,\par from the rising to the setting sun.\par

² God shining from Zion\par is absolutely beautiful!\par

³ Our God is coming,\par and he will not keep quiet.\par Fire burns in front of him.\par There is a great storm around him.\par

⁴ Our God calls to the earth and sky\par to \{be witnesses as he\} judges his people.\par

⁵ \{God says,\}\par “My followers,\par gather around me.\par Come my worshipers,\par we made an agreement with each other.”\par

⁶ God is the judge,\par and the skies tell about his goodness.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [298]})\i0 \par

⁷ God says,\par “My people, listen to me!\par People of Israel, I will show my evidence against you.\par I am God, your God.\par

⁸ I am not complaining about your sacrifices. {\cf2\super [299]} \par You people of Israel bring me your\par burnt offerings all the time.\par You give them to me every day.\par

⁹ I will not take bulls from your house.\par I will not take goats from your stalls.\par

¹⁰ I don’t need those animals.\par I already own all the animals in the forest.\par I already own all the animals\par on thousands of mountains. {\cf2\super [300]} \par

¹¹ I know every bird on the highest mountain.\par Every moving thing in the hills are mine.\par

¹² \{I am not hungry!\}\par But if I were hungry,\par I would not have to ask you for food.\par I already own the world\par and everything on it.\par

¹³ I don’t eat meat from bulls.\par I don’t drink blood from goats.”\par

¹⁴ So bring your thank offerings {\cf2\super [301]} \par \{to share with the other worshipers\}\par and come to be with God.\par You made promises to God Most High,\par so give him the things you promised.\par

¹⁵ \{God says,\}\par “Call for me when you have troubles!\par I will help you.\par And then you can honor me.”\par

¹⁶ God says to wicked people,\par “You people talk about my laws.\par You talk about my Agreement.\par

¹⁷ So why do you hate it when I correct you?\par Why do you ignore the things I say?\par

¹⁸ You see a thief,\par and you run to join him.\par You jump into bed with people\par doing the sin of adultery.\par

¹⁹ You people say bad things and tell lies.\par

²⁰ You constantly say bad things\par about other people,\par even your own brothers.\par

²¹ You did these bad things,\par and I said nothing.\par So you thought\par that I was just like you.\par Well, I won’t be quiet any longer!\par I will make it very clear to you,\par and I will criticize you to your face!\par

²² You people have forgotten God.\par So you had better understand\par before I tear you apart!\par If that happens,\par no person can save you!\par

²³ So if a person gives a thank offering, {\cf2\super [302]} \par then he shows me honor.\par But if a person lives right,\par then I will show him my power to save.”\par
