Psalm 132 - Easy To Read Version

¹ Lord, remember how David suffered.\par

² David made a promise to the Lord.\par David made a special promise\par to the Mighty God of Jacob.\par

³ David said,\par “I will not go into my house,\par I will not lie down on my bed,\par

⁴ I will not sleep,\par I will not let my eyes rest,\par

⁵ I will not do any of those things\par until I find a house for the Lord,\par a home for the Mighty God of Jacob!”\par

⁶ We heard about it in Ephrathah. {\cf2\super [616]} \par We found the Box of the Agreement {\cf2\super [617]} \par at Kiriath Jearim. {\cf2\super [618]} \par

⁷ Let’s go to the Holy Tent.\par Let’s worship at the stool\par where God rests his feet. {\cf2\super [619]} \par

⁸ Lord, get up {\cf2\super [620]} from your resting place.\par Get up Lord, you and your powerful Box.\par

⁹ Lord, your priests are dressed in goodness.\par Your loyal followers are very happy.\par

¹⁰ For the good of your servant, David,\par don’t reject your chosen king.\par

¹¹ The Lord made a promise to David.\par The Lord promised to be loyal to David.\par The Lord promised that the kings would come from David’s family.\par

¹² \{The Lord said,\}\par “David, if your children obey my Agreement {\cf2\super [621]} \par and the laws I teach them,\par then someone from your family\par will always be the king.”\par

¹³ The Lord chose Zion {\cf2\super [622]} to be the place\par for his temple.\par That is the place he wanted for his home.\par

¹⁴ \{The Lord said,\}\par “This will be my place forever and ever.\par I choose this to be the place\par where I will be.\par

¹⁵ I will bless this city with plenty of food.\par Even poor people will have plenty to eat.\par

¹⁶ I will clothe the priests with salvation.\par And my followers will be very happy here.\par

¹⁷ In this place, I will make David strong.\par I will provide a lamp for my chosen king.\par

¹⁸ I will cover David’s enemies in shame.\par But I will make David’s kingdom grow.”\par
