But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, as to how they might destroy him.


Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,


Jesus told them, “Y’all watch out and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”


Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?”


Then the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might trap Jesus in his words.


But Jesus, perceiving their evil intentions, said, “Hypocrites! Why are y’all trying to trap me?


On the same day the Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection, came to him to ask a question.


“The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in Moses’ chair.


The next day, which was the day after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate


For I tell y’all that unless your* righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way y’all will enter into the Empire of Heaven.


When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does y’all’s teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”


Some Pharisees came and asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” (They were testing him).


Should we pay or shouldn’t we?” But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, “Why do y’all test me? Y’all Bring me a denarius to look at.”


Some Sadducees (who say there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him, saying,


Now, a legal expert stood up to test Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”


Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.


But Jesus picked up on their trickery, and said to them,


Some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came and questioned him,


They said this to test him, so they would have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with his finger.


While Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple guard, and the Sadducees came up to them.


Then the high priest rose up, along with those who were with him from sect of the Sadducees, and they were filled with jealousy.
