Indeed, I will send y’all Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of YHWH comes.
They said, “Some say John the Baptizer, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
The crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.”
But Herod, when he heard this, said, “This is John, whom I beheaded. He has risen from the dead.”
They told him, “John the Baptizer, and others say Elijah, and still others, one of the prophets.”
And he will go before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the parents to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has come to help his people!”
Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what kind of woman is touching him, that she is a sinner.”
They answered, “Some say ‘John the Baptizer,’ but others, ‘Elijah,’ and still others, that one of the ancient prophets has risen again.”
and some that Elijah had appeared, and others that one of the ancient prophets had risen again.
They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.”
So they asked him, “Then why do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?”
Now when the humans saw the sign that Jesus performed, they said, “This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”
When they heard these words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”
Then they asked the blind man again, “What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”
