They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, and don’t hesitate to spit in my face.


For you will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will you allow your faithful one to see decay.


They open their mouths wide against me, lions tearing prey and roaring.


I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair. I didn’t hide my face from shame and spitting.


He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.


After two days he will revive us. On the third day he will raise us up, and we will live before him.


From that time, Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised up.


Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him,
