He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.


From that time, Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised up.


What do y’all think?” They answered, “He is worthy of death!”


They bound him, led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate, the governor.


Y’all have heard the blasphemy! What do y’all think?” They all condemned him to be worthy of death.


Early in the morning the chief priests, along with the elders, scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation. They bound Jesus, carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.


He began to teach them that the Son of Humanity must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and that he must be killed, and after three days rise again.


He said to them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. Why is it written that the Son of Humanity should suffer many things and be despised?


because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Humanity is going to be handed over to the hands of men, and they will kill him. After he has been killed, on the third day he will rise again.”


but they kept shouting, “Crucify! Crucify him!”


saying, “The Son of Humanity must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and he will be killed, and on the third day be raised up.”


Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t go into the Praetorium, so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover.


This happened to fulfill the word of Jesus indicating what kind of death he would die.


Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all against me unless it were given to you from above. Therefore the one who delivered me to you has greater sin.”


For the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers didn’t know him, and by condemning him they fulfilled the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.


And now, bound by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,


Y’all have condemned and murdered the righteous person who was not resisting y’all.
