They abhor me and flee far from me, and are not afraid to spit in my face.


they have shut up their fat: their mouth hath spoken proudly.


I have given my body to the strikers, and my cheeks to them that plucked them: I have not turned away my face from them that rebuked me and spit upon me.


Despised and the most abject of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with infirmity: and his look was as it were hidden and despised. Whereupon we esteemed him not.


For he hath taken us, and he will heal us: he will strike, and he will cure us.


From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the ancients and scribes and chief priests, and be put to death, and the third day rise again.


Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him: and others struck his face with the palms of their hands,


Saying: Sir, we have remembered, that that seducer said, while he was yet alive: After three days I will rise again.


Then the high priest rending his garments, saith: What need we any further witnesses?


And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him: Prophesy: and the servants struck him with the palms of their hands.


But they understood not the word, and they were afraid to ask him.


And Herod with his army set him at nought, and mocked him, putting on him a white garment, and sent him back to Pilate.


For the law was given by Moses; grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.


And saith to him: Every man at first setteth forth good wine, and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse. But thou hast kept the good wine until now.


And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day, according to the scriptures:
