We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.


Yes, even when I am old and gray-haired, God, don’t forsake me, until I have declared your strength to the next generation, your might to everyone who is to come.


This day will be a memorial for y’all. Y’all are to celebrate it as a feast to YHWH, and y’all are to celebrate it as a feast throughout y’all’s generations as a permanent ordinance.


When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you are to tell him, ‘By strength of hand YHWH brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage.


This will be for a sign to you on your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that YHWH’s law may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand YHWH has brought you out of Egypt.


You must declare to the children of Israel, ‘Y’all must observe my Sabbaths, for it is a sign between me and y’all throughout y’all’s generations, that y’all may know that I am YHWH who sanctifies y’all.


The living, only the living, can give praises to you, as I do today. A father tells your truth to the children.


Instead of the thorn the cypress tree will come up; and instead of the brier the myrtle tree will come up. It will make a name for YHWH, for an everlasting sign that will not be cut off.”


Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am YHWH who sanctifies them.


Y’all are to make my Sabbaths holy, and they will be a sign between me and y’all, that y’all may know that I am YHWH y’all’s God.’


As for the censers of those who sinned against their own lives, y’all are beat them into plates for a covering of the altar, for they offered them before YHWH. Therefore they are holy. They will be a sign to the children of Israel.”


For the promise is to y’all and y’all’s children, and to all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”


Y’all are to teach them to y’all’s children, talking about them when y’all sit in your* house, when y’all walk along the road, when y’all lie down, and when y’all get up.
