He cried against the altar by the word of YHWH, and said, “Altar! Altar! YHWH says: ‘Look, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn human bones on you.’”
As Josiah turned himself, he spied the tombs that were there in the mountain; and he sent, and took the bones out of the tombs, and burned them on the altar, and defiled it, according to the word of YHWH which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.
He killed all the priests of the high places that were there, on the altars, and burned men’s bones on them; and he returned to Jerusalem.
and Jezebel’s corpse will be like dung on the surface of the field on Jezreel’s land, so that no one can even say, “This is Jezebel.”’”
There they were in great fear, where no fear was, for God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you. You have put them to shame, because God has rejected them.
The people to whom they prophesy will be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. They will have no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour their wickedness on them.
YHWH’s hand was on me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of YHWH, and set me down in the middle of the valley, and it was full of bones.
Y’all’s altars will become desolate, and y’all’s incense altars will be broken. I will throw down your* slain in front of y’all’s idols.
I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel in front of their idols. I will scatter y’all’s bones around y’all’s altars.
YHWH says: “For three transgressions of Moab, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment, because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime;
