Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will y’all waver between the two sides? If YHWH is God, y’all must follow him. But if Baal, then y’all follow him.” The people didn’t say a word.


Now when these things were done, the princes came near to me, saying, “The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, following their abominations, even those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.


Now therefore y’all must not give y’all’s daughters to their sons, and y’all must take their daughters for y’all’s sons. And y’all must not seek their peace or their prosperity forever, so that y’all may be strong and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to y’all’s children forever.’
