Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. This is David’s city.
So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of YHWH with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.
Then David returned to bless his household. Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, “How the king of Israel distinguished himself today! He uncovered himself today in the eyes of his slave girls the way a vain person uncovers-uncovers himself!”
As the ark of YHWH’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
Have mercy on us, YHWH, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt.
Because for your sake, I have borne reproach. Shame has covered my face.
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.
Now the natural human doesn’t accept the things of the Spirit of God. They are foolishness to the natural person who can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Saul said to David, “Look, my elder daughter Merab. I will give her to you as wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight YHWH’s battles.” For Saul said, “Don’t let my hand be on him, but let the hand of the Philistines be on him.”
Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved David, and they told Saul, and it pleased him.
