Over the division of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite and his division, and Mikloth the ruler; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.


If someone overpowers one person, two can withstand him. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.


“I have trodden the wine press alone. Of the peoples, no one was with me. Yes, I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath. Their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing.


I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold. Therefore my own arm brought salvation to me. My own wrath upheld me.


Then everyone left him and fled.


The Philistine said, “I defy the armies of Israel today! Y’all give me a man so we may fight together!”


David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the disgrace from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”


Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear. This uncircumcised Philistine will like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.”
