All his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.


Even now, he is now hidden in some pit, or in some other place. When some of them have fallen at the first, whoever hears about it will say, ‘There is a slaughter among the people who follow Absalom!’


The three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and took it and brought it to David; but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to YHWH.


Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the three. He lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.


He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of YHWH. Then two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of those youths.
