Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, “In times past, y’all wanted David to be your* king.


So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron. King David made a covenant with them in Hebron before YHWH, and they anointed David king over Israel.


He said to Moses, “Come up to YHWH, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. Y’all are to worship from a distance.


You are to go and gather the elders of Israel together, and tell them, ‘YHWH, the God of y’all’s ancestors, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have watched-watched y’all and have seen what has been done to y’all in Egypt.


They rose up in the morning early and worshiped YHWH, then returned and came to their house to Ramah. Then Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and YHWH remembered her.


The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Give us seven days, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel. If there is no one to save us, we will come out to you.”


His return was to Ramah, for his house was there, and he judged Israel there; and he built an altar to YHWH there.


Samuel told all YHWH’s words to the people who asked him for a king.
