Yet they would not listen, but stiffened their neck like their fathers, who did not trust in Adonai their God.
Our fathers acted unfaithfully and did evil in the sight of Adonai Eloheinu and have forsaken Him. They turned their faces away from Adonai’s dwelling place and turned their backs on Him.
Do not stiffen your neck as your fathers did, but reconcile to Adonai, and come to His Temple, which He has consecrated forever, and worship Adonai your God that His burning anger may turn away from you.

If only you had listened to My commandments! then your peace would be like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Pay no attention to the stubbornness of this people or to their wickedness or their sin.
So you should understand that it is not because of your righteousness that Adonai your God is giving you this good land to possess—for you are a stiff-necked people.
But encourage one another day by day—as long as it is called “Today”—so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
As it is said, “Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
