Then the prophet picked up the carcass of the man of God, he laid it on the donkey and brought it back to the town of the old prophet to mourn and to bury him.


All Israel will lament over him and bury him, for it is only him of Jeroboam’s house who will be buried, because in him alone, of all Jeroboam’s house, something good was found toward Adonai, the God of Israel.


Then he asked, “What is this monument I see?” So the men of the town told him, “It is the tomb of the man of God, who came from Judah and proclaimed these things that you have just done to the altar of Bethel.”


Therefore thus says Adonai about Jehoiakim son of King Josiah of Judah: “They will not lament for him, ‘Oy , my brother!’ or ‘Oy , sister!’ They will not lament for him, ‘Oy , master!’ or ‘Oy , his majesty!’


Some devout men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.
