They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity, And their belly prepareth deceit.


When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man, alike:


For we are consumed in thine anger, And in thy wrath are we troubled.


I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I am the LORD, that doeth all these things.


Out of the mouth of the Most High cometh there not evil and good?


They speak vain words, swearing falsely in making covenants: therefore judgement springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.


That which groweth of itself of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, and the grapes of thy undressed vine thou shalt not gather: it shall be a year of solemn rest for the land.


Shall the trumpet be blown in a city, and the people not be afraid? shalt evil befall a city, and the LORD hath not done it?


Were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misdeem, Lest they should say, Our hand is exalted, And the LORD hath not done all this.


looking carefully lest there be any man that falleth short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled;


And see, if it goeth up by the way of its own border to Beth-shemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.
