He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.


And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments came forward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the directions of David king of Israel;


Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of She-alti-el and Jeshua the son of Jozadak made a beginning, together with the rest of their brethren, the priests and the Levites and all who had come to Jerusalem from the captivity. They appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the house of the Lord.


There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.


In that day the branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be the pride and glory of the survivors of Israel.


For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or comeliness that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.


“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

And this shall be peace, when the Assyrian comes into our land and treads upon our soil, that we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight princes of men;


“Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who stands next to me,” says the Lord of hosts. “Strike the shepherd, that the sheep may be scattered; I will turn my hand against the little ones.


Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who sit before you, for they are men of good omen: behold, I will bring my servant the Branch.


Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Let your hands be strong, you who in these days have been hearing these words from the mouth of the prophets, since the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.


And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.


and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’ ”


“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.’ ”


And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days,


And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that he thus breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.


But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,


but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues for ever.


See how great he is! Abraham the patriarch gave him a tithe of the spoils.


For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; hence it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.
